If there’s one way to break free from winter boredom, it’s dancing to epic live tunes. At Cabin Fever, we’ve been battling winter blues for over 8 years and have mastered the art of crafting the ultimate antidote.
Whether you’re looking to attend free gigs or affordable ticketed shows, this year’s lineup is coming in hot with something thought of for every musical taste (and budget). After months of scouring through WA’s vibrant musical scene, we’ve curated a list of free and under $40 events that will definitely get your toes tapping…and your body groovin’. Check it out.
FREE MUSIC EVENTS
The Cabin, a pop up event space right outside Shelter Brewing Co on the Busselton Foreshore, will host a non-stop lineup of beloved West Australian music talent, bringing their delicious vocals and melodies to keep you warm and entertained all weekend long.
The Cabin music kicks off on Friday, 12 July, with a one-stop shop of food truck bites, beverages and tunes provided by Lightnin’ Jack Duo during Cabin Fever’s Food Truck Frenzy. A family friendly, free-entry event where you’ll find all your favourite South West food trucks rolled up on the Busselton Foreshore to the sound of Lightnin’ Jack Duo’s blues.
Saturday, 13 July, after gathering for a Welcome to Country with Zac Webb from the Undalup Association, you’ll find one free live act after another at The Cabin’s main tent. We’re talking Sunny Day, Shorehaven, Bad Boogey and Spici Water, from 12.30pm all the way til 5pm.
End the first weekend of Cabin Fever right at the exact same place where you started it. The Cabin’s main tent will continue to host incredible talent but not until we gather at the Busselton Foreshore for a mid-morning Flow & Sound Bath by the Gnarabup Yoga Studio team. Live music will then kick off with Daisy Park at 12.30pm, followed by Koi Pond, Stem Steller and Pasiflorez, all the way until 5pm.
Bringing the kids along? We’ve got you covered. The Cabin is an all-ages, free entry weekend designed for the big kids, and the little ones. Both Saturday and Sunday, expect free face painting activities from 12.15-2.15pm, followed by a collaborative mural from 2.45-4.45pm. What a treat! Lastly, if you’re a group and would like to arrange transport pick up and dropoff, you can arrange group transport to this event emailing our bus partners, Gannaways Charters, at [email protected].

If you feel like a change of plans for the Cabin, there’s one more event you should know about: Sunday Sounds, a day of blues, rock, food and wine by Skigh Wines. Sunday, 14 July, head for the Yallingup Hills at 1pm to celebrate local talent, food and vibrant wines. Entry is free, yet the wine is not 😉 All ages welcome, 1pm – 7pm.

It’s bittersweet to even write this, but all good things do come to an end. We did it last year, and it was too much fun to not do it again. The Cabin Fever Closing Party will take over The Tuckshop once more, doing it the only way we know how – with good beverages, tasty bites, and some damn good tunes. Bid farewell to Cabin Fever at the ultimate party on Margs’ main street. Expect marquees in the carpark, fire drums, pop-up bars, street-style food stands, and one spicy dancefloor. The ultimate wintry Sunday session awaits, priced at $40 per head. Bus tickets available.
